This link is to the top donors to the obama campaign. Notice any familiar names? I see 4 major financial institutions... Bank Bailouts anyone? Its just plain truth that every aspect of this country, from democrats and republicans, to all the major media outlets, to even toll roads and parking meters, are owned by major corporations. Heck even much of our military operation is being performed by merceneries like blackwater. Whats happening to our country is, by definition, a Fascist revolution. Long gone are the days of trust busting, which got started mainly because of the last great depression, and we wonder why we are in this economic mess now. Fortunately the government is still, at least for a little while longer, vulnerable to the wills of "we the people". But the majority of americans are still apathetic and ignorant, and the far right "free market" capitalists think its the greatest thing ever. The corporate media has done a pretty good job of making people think the government is bad and cant be trusted, even though the government is "we the people". I would have liked to believe that this current economic strife would have opened peoples eyes a bit, but it would seems that things are going to have to get alot worse, (20%, 30% unemployment, great depression part 2??) before they get any better. in the mean time, the right wingers will continue to blaim obama for the 10% or so unemployment we have, while their listeners nod their heads in agreement. Then they will go to the store and buy 35 things made in communist china. afterwords having to call for technical assistance to get their new widget working, they will talk to someone in india for half an hour. Then they will hang an american flag on their porch, not bothering to notice the "made in indonesia" tag, crack open a soda, and talk to their buddies about how obama is ruining america. Meanwhile ill just drive around this country of ours and see with my own eyes how many small businesses dissapear this year, only to be replaced by some mega corporation. And ill just continue to wander the aisles of whatever store im at when i need to go shopping, picking up random items and checking the packaging, giggling maniacally to myself as i see made in "oppresive communist nation" over and over again, while the other customers give me odd looks and keep a wide berth. And i will continue to go to one of the three, (or is it 2 now) mega truck stop chains that have succesfully shut down pretty much all of the family owned truck stops in the nation, and as i look for a place to park, take note of the ever decreasing number of independent contractors that have been put out of business by the 10 or so mega transportation carrier companies. (the same carriers that have succesfully lowered the average driver pay from what it once was.) And i will continue, as i go to sleep, try to remember the good things, like the fact i have a job at all. Or that, sooner or later, i am going to get to go home to my wonderful wife.....
I dont know, i guess all i am trying to say is that i am having a very difficult time adjusting to the knowledge that public policy is now being more or less dictated by the trans-national corporations. The same corporations that often have their corporate headquarters on some island in order to evade taxes. The same corporations whose only goal and purpose is to make a profit and raise stock value. These corporations will eat our country just like they eat each other if left unchecked. its not their fault really, its just their nature, yet here we are debating wether or not obama should have put a tarrif on chinese tires? or wether or not we should make it easier for unions to form? I think its time we stop blaming our government, because the problems in our government is really the symptom of a much deeper problem. but yeah, things are going to have to get much worse before enough americans wake up and get together and actually enact a meaningful change.
Reading the bible has so far only increased my skeptisism of its contents.
